Matariki Evening

Matariki at Ngunguru School

Next week on Wednesday  and Thursday we are celebrating Matariki, the Maori New Year 

This will consist of  two open days with students moving around the school experiencing a range of art and technology activities related to Matariki.  

Parents are welcome to come along and be involved. We would love to see you and would appreciate the help!

Thursday will end a Kite flying afternoon at school commencing at 1.00

Later Thursday evening we will be holding our  Matariki night . So please come along, bring a simple plate of food to share and join our Taniwha lantern trail , that will wind through the school leading us to a special place.

1.       Karakia /welcome/Introductions

2.       Activity  Presentations

3.      'Taniwha Trail' Lantern walk

4.      Waiata

5.      Legends /Story telling    

6.      Sausage sizzle, Soup and Pot Luck kai.



What to bring: Your plate, a blanket,  warm clothes and maybe a tarp or folding chair.
