Kina 5

Tēnā koutou katoa!

A warm welcome back to Kina 5.

This term we will be trying new things and tackling some interesting challenges. Next week we will be design and create their own house team costumes.  We are looking for any spare fabric or textiles that are blue, yellow, green or red. Old white(ish) cotton t-shirts are great and we can personalise and tie-dye them (needed at school Wednesday 8th May).

We will be exploring how people make choices to meet their needs and wants; the roles and responsibilities of leaders; and later this term we will be looking at simple science experiments. We will be thinking scientifically as we explore changes in matter, with a big focus on kitchen chemistry and kai as we celebrate Matariki.

On Tuesday 18 June there will be a performance by a theatre company. This will be a great introduction to performing for our children prior to the school production in term three.

Year 4 students will be participating in the Whangarei Primary School Sports Association Winter sports participation day on the 5th June. We need parents to support with transport and teams on the day. Book yourselves in early.

This is going to be another action packed exploration into the world of learning!  Please come along and join us for the fun!

The most important partnership for your child’s learning is the link between home and school. So if you haven’t already, please come and see where your child spends their day. Ask them to show you around before or after school. You are welcome to join us on our learning journey.

“Read to” or “Read with” your child every day.

I hope your child returns home each day happy and retelling exciting stories of their day.

Warm Regards,

Tessa Heswall
